Hi, I’m Richy!

Proud homeowner with my wife and our pets. After moving into a home next to a farm, life took an unexpected turn—suddenly we were dealing with way more rodents and mice than I ever imagined. I set up a little 'test lab' to figure out how to keep them out of our home- and luckily, it worked!

Hey there!

My name is Richard and I decided it would be fun to start this website! When we first moved into our house next to a farm last year, we quickly discovered we weren't the only ones living there. In the kitchen and bedrooms, there were signs of rodents, and the problem kept getting worse. One night I went into the kitchen and saw a mouse run across the counter and jump into the toaster. From that point it became an urgent issue to say the least and it was game on. Drawing on my background in selling pest repellent services when I was in college, I dove deep into understanding these critters and exactly what works and what doesn't. To be candid, it took a lot of research!

The internet has such mixed reviews. Being a new homeowner who just spent more money than I had my entire life, and knowing the cost of an exterminator (I was quoted $2,100 + ongoing fees), it wasn't an option. Spending that sum of money was the last thing I was looking to do. Once I ordered the pile of products you'll see in the photos, I tested and tested to figure out how to solve this problem. Besides, with my pest repellent experience, how hard could it be?

So, I’m gonna be real with you- this whole thing turned out to be a lot harder than I expected. Mice are smart, and half the time it feels like they’re predicting your next move. Either that, or some products just flat-out don’t do anything… which is probably closer to the truth. And if you spot one? Yeah, that usually means there are more.

The photo below is of my wife and me visiting the farm next door during our first weekend after moving in. Little did we know then that this neighboring farm would soon become the source of our rodent problem.

Homeownership has definitely been a journey, and dealing with pests has been a big part of it. If you’re new to all this, I get how overwhelming it can feel. Figuring out how to finally get the mice out was one of my first real wins as a homeowner- and trust me, it took plenty of trial and error to get there. Now that I’ve dialed in a system that actually works, I feel a lot more confident moving forward and keep updating these guides so the same problems don’t come crawling back. With colder temps on the way, we’ll see if I can hold strong for another winter, and I’ll be sure to keep you posted along the way!

Thanks for reading!

I'm the proud owner of a now rodent-free home (at least that I know of).
